What’s good people? My name is Tommy Blak. The homie Juss ask me to come in and help out since he’s running around the world. So I’m gonna start off with some Arizona heat. Big up to the homie Pickster One over at 2 For The Bass for dropping this on me. If any of you ever pass thru Mesa Arizona you will most likely stop by the Blunt Club and this Emcee will be holding down the the hosting duties. In fact, the only Emcee I’ve ever seen host a party like that and do it very well is Trek Life. His name is Emerg McVay.
OK so I wasn’t gonna post anything about the verbal spats of Ice T and Soulja Boy. But this shit is too funny. Aries Spears goes all in on Soulja Boy (pause) and makes a good point on things.
Travis Barker is a MONSTER. Here is a video of him wildin out on drums for The Games Dope Boyz. If you haven’t heard the remix he did for Busta’s Don’t Touch Me, here you go . Judge for yourself.
More shit from Tommy Blak who just just dropped the 1st of what is supposed to be a 15 disc series of bangers. Broken Jewels Vol 1, which is hosted by Trek Life, has brand new joints from Raekwon, Buff1, Hustle Simmons, Self Scientific, Saigon, Kidz in the Hall, Vaste Aire and plenty of others to get you’re head nodding to full capacity.
I checked the inbox this morning and there lied 2 tracks from Los Angeles based DJ Tommy Blak. His debut album, Broken Jewelry Boxes, is well on its way and i plan on being there every step of the way to show you how he is making this miracle happen. This song features Demics (of Immortal Techniques Rebel Army), Pumpkinhead, Iyan Anomolie, and Menez, (of Gem Collekshuns). And to make things sweet, there’s a remix by Drift the Dean.
Hip Hop DX sat down with Kidz in the Hall to talk about being labelled Hipster Rappers.
Naledge and Double O responded to the poll and the overall sentiment in Hip Hop recently. At a video with Boston-based store UndergroundHipHop.com, Double O responded to the poll saying, “It’s like they tried to smack you on the front side, then tried to stick their thumb up your booty on the south side.” Naledge added, “They don’t even know us, it was just kinda, ‘We don’t like how they dress.’ Fuck it.” The group also reminded those interested that their debut, 2006’s School Was My Hustle was released on Rawkus Records, and was never victim to such accusations as those plaguing some of the newer groups in Hip Hop. “We weren’t [labeled] hipsters then! How the fuck…I had Polo on back then, I had Gucci belts on back then,” Naledge defended. He used the inclusion of 808 drum beats and radio-friendly choruses as the one evolution that the group has followed.
FNF’s Gemstones drops the 6th installment of the Fahrenheit 1/15 Mixtape series with The Testimony of Gemstones. This should hold over until his debut album, Troubles of the World, drops. Well enjoy this little treat.
